Grades 3-6: For kids of all math abilities wanting to advance at their own pace in a fun supportive environment. SUMA meets twice a week after school where mentors, both adult and teens, provide personal support and supervision. The math instruction is delivered on our own Chromebooks via the web-based Khan Academy. That web-based delivery allows kids to continue to advance on their own time at home, the library, or on any internet connected device. Khan Academy uses the same Common Core curriculum mandated by the Washington State, thus aligning our program with our kids’ classroom learning. SUMA will use a system of recognitions; rewards and team competitions to keep kids enthused about making progress in their math studies.
SUMA is hosted on Mondays and Wednesdays. The classes will end at 5pm (Bow Lake) or 6pm (YMCA).
